I'm not going in a circle.  My position is in the same place.  I stated an increase in utilization does not absolutely guarantee a decrease in score.

I know someone who the $2 trick doesn't work for, but if they let $1K report they get a score boost.  So for them it is the $1K trick.  This person has about $1mm in available revolving credit and is well versed in CC's, FICO etc.  So it's not "theoretically possible", but in fact is a reality for certain profiles.

Did you read any of the links I supplied?  Or too busy?

For someone with $1M in available credit, $1,000 essentially is the "$2 trick."

A person with $1M in available CC credit probably has a lot of credit limits of $50,000+, which aren't included in FICO utilization calculations.

These 2 statements are contradictory, no?

In most practical applications, the tree may have one to five levels, and the number of tree leaves or segments may range between 1 and 20.   The tree looks just like a decision tree (e.g., one produced by classification and regression tree technology), although it is typically much shallower, and different methods are used to construct the tree. The scorecard segmentation tree is very interpretable,  For example, the FICOŽ score is based on a segmentation tree with about 20 leaves. In general, the depth of the segmentation tree depends on the amount of data available, the complexity of interactions displayed in the fitted relationship, and a multitude of operational considerations.

That's the info they throw us  So out of a seemingly infinite number of segments,  they make ~20 active.  Of course,  they don't differentiate if this is FICO 04, FICO 08,  FICO 09 etc.   They don't tell if they tweak it on the go (such as did the active segmentations get changed after the financial meltdown).  And we also know that the systems are customized for each CRA even if they are all claiming FICO 08 -  EX, EQ and TU all are unique in their own little ways.

No. The point of the second sentence was that the so-called "$2 trick" won't work if the only reported balance appears on a card that doesn't count for utilization purposes.

(A person with $1M in CC CL probably isn't doing the "$2 trick" at all, but the example was someone with $1M in CC CL whose FICO increased after a small increase in utilization, which is essentially the same discussion.)

More info

Are they charged-off negative accounts?  Are they AU's for AMEX charge cards?  Are they personally liable AMEX charge cards?

Well, that's the consequences of card churning.  I personally wouldn't mess with properly reporting personally liable cards.  You risk fraud alerts and other unintended consequences.

Unless there was fraud involved, you're not getting them deleted. And making a fraudulent fraud claim can and most likely will wreak havoc with your credit reports and/or banking relationship(s).

Which would be great if it wasn't rumored that closed accounts are likely to be weighed less, and maybe not at all, in an upcoming revision by FICO.
