Bottom line - a non-Jewish store relies on strict kashrus controls because there is no ne’emanus. Saying they don’t trust him anymore is saying they didn’t have proper controls. (Experts can CMIIW)

If only the mashgiach temidi held the key there would be no scandal.
Yes I was going to post earlier that I know of no basis for any reliance on trust of a non jew for Kashrus.

So, similar to the CLE case in the 90s.
So that's 2 frum and 1 non-Jewish major cases. Any others?

Biggest caterer in JNB was serving treif meat for years. Was busted red handed with treif chickens. There was a mashgiach temidi, the owner figured out how to outsmart him. They have implemented additional safeguards. There were warnings, but they were ignored/downplayed.

Why doesn't the OK feel any responsibility to the public to elaborate on what happened there. All we are getting is, wash your utensils and we are shutting down the store.
No transparency / accountability at all?
Heads should roll.

Why do you think that this statement is going to be their final word on the subject?

Agreed, I posted this before. I also love how people are posting "kudos to OK for telling us to kasher our dishes etc. instead of not admitting like the story with Jin" Jeez own up to your mistake, I ate in that store with your hashgacha and you have details I want to know. STOP DOWNPLAYING!!!

So does this fellow own NKS in Elizabeth as well? If so, that would eliminate most of the pirchos against the feasibility of serving cheap Chinese.

Bottom line, this story is shocking and terrible, and it most definitely seems many of us mistakenly consumed treif meat. Terrible.

Say what you will about Yudel but he has been spot on in most of the specific things he has called out over the years. An untold number of kashrus concerns were quietly addressed after he went public with issues although they never hit the spotlight.

I take no responsibility for all of his beliefs, though. (Or spelling.)

So this is a major caterer (not just Kosher) in JNB that was used for Kosher and is still used for Kosher events after the scandal but with additional safeguards?

Details will probably trickle out over time. OK likely wants to do damage control and/or only publish facts they’ve fully confirmed.

Why would they tell me to kasher my dishes if they're not sure if there was treif, why not tell us the details which are contributing you to tell me to kasher my dishes?

Time to switch to pareve cholent?

There are other foods that taste bad ( =clearly kosher) that I'd eat before that.

this parve chulent will be delicious, all the cheap treifus going in will make it the best most wonderful shabbos dish you ever ate.

This is an active investigation and they have actually been pretty quick to act, they immediately shut down the store and within a day issued a call to Kasher pots. I have no taynos on the way this has been done and if you read between the lines on the initial post from GKR and how the store was shut immediately after the video surfaced this was bound to happen.

I do expect a broader statement when they complete their investigation, and I’m sickened by the fact that I have very possibly consumed real treif. I still hope it’s not as bad as that..  :'( :'(

Do you think this is a magic trick that you snap your fingers and everything is clear? Investigations take time. If the guy closed shop, he likely isn't talking to them either. The only way to get to the bottom of it will be a lawsuit to subpoena their books. And even then, who's to say you'll be able to figure out what happened?

If they are recommending people kasher their pots, they have info to share.

If I understand Rav Reuvain Feinsteins opinion correctly, he feels no tshuva or even kashering pots is necessary in these situations. Unless the equation is changed by the owner not being Jewish. In any case as pointed out he’s a דעת יחיד in that.
I believe kashering would be required. Although you did nothing wrong by eating what the torah allowed you to eat, the dishes are still trief.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

If the guy was serving treif the books might be cooked too, you’d have to be able to confirm invoices with suppliers.

I would bet money that the owner had the keys
Someone in the OU once told me that I should never rely that an owner doesn't have the key to their own store.
