We are excited to announce that Red Heifer Steakhouse has reopened at our new location at 26 King David St. (King David's Crown) Jerusalem. Our old location at King George St. is no longer open.

The only funny thing is that the copyright on their website dates from 2005. Can anyone confirm?

Very nice. Maybe bahayman can help with putting in a line of HTML for the border

I hacked a border into the wiki  ;D. Maybe one day we'll be able to get support for HTML 3.0 and get some normal table tags  :P

As a matter of fact I did schmooze with the owner and told him that his establishment is being discussed & written up on a very well known and active blog/website
I told him to consider getting a better Kashrus certification that might result in alot of more traffic
He sounded interested
:) Smile & G-d will give u a reason to smile

How can I get to the bottom of finding out if Hess is Kosher or not !? I just read an old thread on this Forum and find people are very confused ! I just called them up and they said they have the hashgacha of Rabanut Mehadrin (Jerusalem)

What do you guys suggest? It would be extremely hard for me to stop eating there but obviously if not kosher I wont !!

Huh? If there's a certifcate, it's kosher. It will even have the mashgiach's phone # so you can verify it's not fake. If there isn't any, it's certainly not under the R Mehadrin's supervision.

its rabanute meat! No respectable person here really eats that..... Does anyone know the kulos rabanute/mehadron uses?! One - they use non kosher glycerin...glycerin is made from animal fat. Usually from a non kosher animal. Its a huge Sheila in YD 88:1-2 if the glycerin are ok. But r' Belsky says now adays its def not! (I.e marshmallows)

It won't be Rabbanut meat if they have a R Mehadrin certificate

It's not Rabbanut Mehadrin, though the owner likes to say it is. Speaks volumes about his ne'emonus. More so, there are no Mashgiachs listed on the Teuda and the owner stubbornly refuses to answer any kashrus questions.

Read more about it here http://www.jerusalemkoshernews.com/2008/12/hess-restaurant-1-of-2/
and here http://www.jerusalemkoshernews.com/2009/01/hess-restaurant-2-of-2/

And you could read the rest of the thread quoted above http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=1885.msg134041#msg134041

Regardless, if when a restaurant owner is asked what the hashgacha of his establishment is, he repeatedly gets up and embarrasses the person in public for even thinking of asking such a question, it could have an Eida, Rubin, Landau combined plus 12 other hechsherim, and I wouldn't go near the place

I don't care if it's kosher or not.

Question was how to determine if it's under R Mehadrin supervision, and there's a simple way to check.
