I think many of us feel the bigotry from the left much more than from the right. THis leads us to view with much skepticism any claim from the left about bigotry on the right and all their dog whistles. The left is much more blatant than dog whistles. WHen they blame a rise in NY hate crimes on the election only to write a sentence later that they were almost all against Jews is not credible to those who are most recognizable as Jews.

I agree to the sentiment hear about the liberal view of hate crimes but I definitely have not had the experiences you all seem to have had with antisemitism. I think I have only experienced open antisemitism once in my life when In LA someone cursed me out when passing in a car....

Regarding open anti-Semitism, my personal experience has been that almost exclusively it is the poor and uneducated who express open anti-Semitism. Obviously, I can only judge what level of income and education a person comes from based on external clues, but from what it looks like to me, that is always the case. I don't think this means there is more anti-Semitism among the poor and uneducated, I just think that they don't hide it well or don't care to.

On a related note, I don't know if I am unusual in this regard but in my personal experience the overwhelming majority of hate speech that has been directed at me has been from inner city African Americans, especially youth. That doesn't mean I think there is necessarily more anti-Semitism among that demographic.

You're right, that wasn't a very good way of putting it but are you saying that the way to tell if someone has real אמונה is to see if they're ever arrogant?

I have an African American neighbor, who for many years had a very negative attitude towards me (and possibly other jewish neighbors). Then one time he had trouble getting his car out of the snow, and I made the effort to give him whatever help I could (as I would do to anyone, if I am able and have the time). From that point on, his attitude towards me change 180 degrees. I didn't even realize what had happened, until one time he actually mentioned to me that he could never forget how I helped him (I totally forgot about it, as it was just something I would never think twice about).

I've experienced the same among blacks.
But its kinda strange.
Because amongst them I find the biggest Jew lovers and Jew haters, I just don't get it.
