See here for more on the topic; there are any other essays out there as well. But the point is that if you Daven a little bit it is better than not davening at all.
I am in no way saying that what I did is the best way to do it.
Quote
Someone who is hungry: The Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chaim 89:54) rules that someone who is hungry or thirsty may eat or drink before davening.

Regrettably, he totally omitted an important caveat in Shu’a here:
אם יש בו יכולת לכוין דעתו יתפלל and there is no heter to eat.
No mention of it whatsoever.

At our דף היומי שיעור,
Someone asked: how can we give a bouquet of flower (or a ring) when proposing for a שידוך?  Isn't that called קידושין which would require a גט if dropping the engagement?

The fact that he said (in whatever form) "will you marry me" proves that the flowers/ring etc. is not for Kiddushin. He's specifially saying that its a proposal for a future marriage.

If you say harei at....
I was specifically instructed not to give my kallah any presents. It can be from my parents to her or from me to her family, but nothing directly from me to her. At the time I wondered if it was just a chumrah...

Question would be if “will you marry me” is a לשון קידושין.

I can't think of any reason why it would be Mekudeshes.
a) No one gets married without friends/family in a hotel/resturant/zoo/random area so its not muchach
b) When one says "Harei At Mekudeshes Li" it implies now. When he says "will you marry me?" it does not imply getting married now.

קידושין דף ו
The Pshat in "דבר אמה על עסקי חופה וקידושין" is that now its muchach that he's being mekadesh her. If they are standing in front of the elephants and he asks her to marry him, even if they were talking about getting married in the future, its pretty clear that he's not being mekadesh her...

I once heard a story from a friend that  when he was a bochur in a yeshiva (near the home of @meivinyavin ) a freind of his  realized when learning kidushin that he had a problem. Years earlier he had been hanging out with some friends (boys and girls) when he played a claw grab game and one a little prize. One of the girls asked him for the prize and he replies if i give it to you will you marry me to which she replied yes and he gave it to her. Supposedly the rosh yeshiva Harav M. paskened that will you marry me is a loshon of the girl marrying him (being mekadesh him ) and not him being mekadesh her and therefore does not require a get.

I heard a similar story but I think the boy was required to give a get.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe strongly opposed giving an engagement ring (before the wedding) for this very reason. But it seems that any other gift is not (as much of) an issue, since neither chosson or kallah intends it as kiddushin.

The chashash by a ring is greater since it is the same type of jewelry used in kiddushin (which is the reason it is so common to give).

If you don’t say “will you marry me?” than what’s the problem? (I’ve heard of some who oppose because of חוקות הגויים)

This. Probably the reason why it's non heard of by chassidim.
