New thread title idea
Lol. Funny story. My point was exactly opposite. People take the anti eruv side very to heart, while you have(/had) some of the biggest poskim who were not only matir the eruv, but were very involved in getting it up and running, such as Rav Fishel Hershkovitz zatzal and Rav Yechezkel Roth zatzal. The Sederheili Ruv, Rav Chaim Leib Katz Shlita currently maintains it. These are big people who can definitely be relied upon. So if you don't rely on it for whatever reason, personal or other, don't make a big stink if someone does. Enjoy his non mevushal wine (and go to the Kosel ).
Considering the big rabbanim on this side, we're in very good company. When you hear a Gadol Hador say "but in Boro Park bedavka not" when discussing what you can do in an eiruv that you don't use, you would aslo look at it differently.
Can you rephrase that? As an aside (again), I don't know what a Gadol HaDor is. Back in the day it meant Avimelech and the rich and famous. Is it a big Rosh Yeshiva or Rebbe? Or someone who Paskens Shaalos and is qualified to offer an opinion on a Halachik Shaala?
Yes.He was asked if you can wear a watch in an eiruv that you don't use. The response was based on R' Moshe's shittah that the reason not to wear a watch is because people will think you can carry a pocket watch, so even if you don't use the eiruv people will say "he's using the eiruv" instead of "you're allowed to carry a watch". He then finished by saying "but in Boro Park you should bedavka not".
For those still following, we're now touching on who is/isn't a Gadol HaDor, Roshei Yeshivos vs Poskim, and who may or may not be going to hell. If you feel there's a third rail topic we haven't hit yet, please chime in.
Well, has COVID been mentioned yet?
Close, but no cigar. I was poking fun at the modern terminology of Gadol HaDor, it is meaningless at best. I wasn't ranking people as Gadol HaDor because that term is irrelevant. The second thing, I was pointing out the differences between a Rosh Yeshiva, Rebbe, a Rav, and a Posek. They are not the same and serve different functions and people should stop making a Kugel and a chulent out of the 4.
Is everyone limited to just one of these titles? A Rosh Yeshiva, Rebbe, or Rav can definitely be a posek as well. If you took my response to your previous post to mean he is not a major Posek, then you misunderstood.

If you don't believe in this one, which classification would you give to any of these (in no specific order) and many others.Rav Moshe Feinstein ZTLRav Yaakov Kaminetzky ZTLRav Belsky ZTLRav Dovid Feinstein ZTLyibadlu lchaimRav Shmuel KaminetztkyRav Yisroel ReismanRav Shlomo Miller

Close, but no cigar. I was poking fun
As you clearly don't believe yibadlu lchaim is a Rav, is he a Rosh Yeshivah? A posek?
Is a buchor allowed to carry a picture of a girl to his rebbe (Insert your own fav one) on shabbos in bp w/o a mask... that should cover all
I haven't really been taking this part of the conversation seriously. Not my world.
Where there is life there is hope.
Is he allowed to point out a masked girl to his non-posek (poser?) Rebbe on Shabbos?...
