Nothing to do with news, its the Kashrus scene -stuff not reported in the "news".
Anyways, many many frume yidden don't eat canned tuna (recently I learned that the canned salmon is just as problematic) that is certified only by the OU and are not Bishul Yisroel (famous brands like starkist & chicken of the sea).  Aside for the fact that they don't require tuna to be Bishul Yisroel, there are much serious problems.
See some more info here, and here.

Ah, that explains it: I never even liked Starkist; believe it or not, I actually prefer the heimishe brands (like Dagim). So I never came across this issue.

But what does that have to do with dolphins?

Hechsherim like the Star-k, the OK, and the Eida all require a mshgiach temidi, something which OU could care less for.

Now, I am not saying that the OU is possul, this all started because I was trying to defend the OU, and to point out that they have their own share of problems I got into this...  Unfortunately, I trust the OU a lot more than many other hechsherim out there, I'm just cognizant of the fact that the OU has their own stash of kullos etc.. Some of them quite serious.  However they are expert in their fields where others are clueless.  Enough said.

ahhh right after the chalav was the tuna/fish issue ...boy did i love the summer zman! :-) great stuff!!
random talking about tuna can - the chozon ish ZTL holds that a tuna can needs to be toiveled....the second you buy it, since its b'etztem a kli - he holds once you own a kli the chiyuv starts right away
If you have any questions please search and then ask. PM me for detailed help.

Everyone knows the Eidah is not such a good hechsher.

For one thing, they don't give Maaser Oni to the poor, or Maaser Rishon to a Levi (as discussed elsewhere).
Was this supposed to be LOL?!
However, I seem to remember they are the only organization that doesn't rely on OU. I might be wrong though
From what I've heard? Absolutely bogus, and not physically possible, as the OU control (i.e. certify) the most flavors/preservatives etc in China and the far east... It would be impossible FWIH to live w/o the OU, for such a large hechsher as the Eida.
If you hear otherwise, please correct my misinformation, TIA.

What did you learn?
Serious issues for those who rely on Reb Moshe's hetter vis-a-vis Chalav akum.
IINM he (rots5) is probably referring to the issue of sirchos in the cows because of injections, which would in short possibly make the cows treifos.
For those of you in E"Y, here's some homework, if you rely on Rubin (all Strauss dairy products.. etc..), find out his policy regarding the dairy products he certifies, vis-a-vis the sirchos and cholov yisroel :-X
But what does that have to do with dolphins?
Again:

See some more info here, and here.

+1 it isn't really possible for any hechsher in the world not to rely on the OU unless they're giving a hasgacha on fruits and vegetables, and maybe some bread from locally grown wheat.

That its not worth making a fight with them. But it doesn't make them any better of a hechesher

R.e. The OU, this stuff doesn't interest me so much, but Ill inquire
