However be warned, in the summer its one of the hottest places in Israel.
I was just there and it was hot outside.
Inside the caves it is very pleasant, even on hot days.

Any data points regarding the insurance form needed for rental cars? Does it need to be printed or pdf is fine?

I believe Hertz always asks for printed, Avis and Sixt not always.
Might depend on the card issuer and the counter agent.

Hertz always accepted my emailing it to them at the counter.
But bring printed anyway.

Related question, does the proof need to explicitly state "Israel"? Amex "proof" I got from requesting via an automated proof of coverage email says
Quote
Coverage is worldwide except for vehicles rented in Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and any country on the Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned country list.
So is Hertz going to require me to also prove that Israel is not on the "Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctioned country" list? or do I need to call Amex and send proof that explicitly says that Israel is covered? And is that email sufficient or do I need to provide the full policy details to them?

Hertz gave me a hard time insisting not only on a paper copy, but also that it is dated close to the rental (we had one from about 5 months earlier, from a postponed trip due to COVID- they declined that one). One agent also insisted that the letter specifically mentions Israel (CSR letter says "valid worldwide" which was not sufficient for one of the agents, but the other one accepted it.
